Boardinghouse (John Wintergate, 1982)

Shot in Horror-Vision (which looks suspiciously like videotape) in 1982 with all the illicit feeling of porn made by a group of mystical ex-hippie Los Angelenos, this film’s artificial lighting schemes, point-and-shoot cinematography, point-and-emote acting, random fades-to-black, and double-exposure “special” effects fail to rein in a shambling plot about a haunted house and telekinesis. Or maybe succeed. Either way, a fitting marriage of shoddy form to shabby content.
